Okay, so I finally have Internet! New Zealand has spectacular scenery, BUT it gets pretty boring after awhile. Everywhere in the North Island kinda starts looking the same.:( and everything is EXPENSIVE!! You spend like at least 15 bucks for lunch, that's a far cry from like a 5 dollar meal in a hawker centre. Haha. AND I BUNGEE JUMPED!!! It was seriously so cool! I'll def do it again and again if I become really rich someday. My entire torso got wet when I plunged into the really clear blue water, thank goodness I was wearing a green shirt. AND I GOT THE ENTIRE THING ON VIDEO!!! Had to pay 35 bucks for it though. And hahaha. There was this Indian guy in front of me who nearly chickened out. And my jump was SOUNDLESS. I did not scream at all. Out of out entire tour group of 26, only 3 of us jumped. And I seriously experienced the cheesiest most culturally-ignorant pickup line in some lift in a hotel in Auckland.-_- what happened was that my brother and I and one of our newfound friends were getting into the lift, and there were 2 guys in it. One was this damm fat Maori guy, the other was this tall guy who had the Nigel Barker haircut. So NBH guy acted damm macho and like held the lift door open with his body while Maori man did not hold the door open for us. So we got in, said a word of thanks and wanted to leave it as that, but NBH guy started saying a string of greetings in Japanese, Korean and some other weird language, so I cut in and said politely " I'm Chinese and I speak English, so there's no need for that." And then NBH guy, had the audacity to WINK at me and said " oh, really? You're a very pretty Chinese girl." So, I just rolled my eyes at him and walked out of the lift when it reached my floor with my brother and the other girl. And people are quite racist here. Even the kids, but at least their parents made quite a big deal about them shouting such racist slurs to us and made them apologize, and the people in the shops talk to us as if we're stupid and don't understand English, so I usually just answer them back and throw in some cheem vocabulary used correctly, that usually just shuts them up and makes them behave and they're alot nicer to us after that. I want to go home and we've got more than half of the trip to go. It's so long-drawn and I miss singapore so much! I miss the food and the friends. And the fact that shops open later than 5pm. I hope that the South Island would be more interesting! My favourite part of the trip so far was going to the Maori reserve and getting to learn more about their history and culture, and the Maoris really can sing!!! OMG! I was blown away when they sang for us. Okay, byebye! Need to change into my pilates clothes. Get some pilates done, go for dinner at some " Singapore restaurant" which will prob have pseudo-Singaporean food. Posted via LiveJournal.app. |
